Our Pipeline in Development
With a focus on managing the allocation of the Company’s resources while leveraging the strong potential within our extensive portfolio of intellectual properties, Senetek continues to evaluate partnership opportunities for the development of numerous pipeline candidates. A leading technology in this area is RNAi for the treatment of brain tumors.

In 2006, the Nobel Prize was awarded to two American scientists for the discovery of the molecular mechanism behind RNAi.  That mechanism within RNA allows for the regulation of gene expression, and represents a new model in genetic therapies for the treatment of cancers and neurological disorders.

Senetek has acquired a royalty-based license for RNAi from the Institute of Bio-Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Science (PAS).  This agreement grants Senetek the exclusive rights to anti-cancer technology for the treatment of brain tumors using interference RNA.  The treatment developed by the Institute in cooperation with the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurotramatology, University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, uses RNA interference technology to inhibit the production of tenascin-C, whose expression has been indicated to correlate with the grade of malignancy of brain tumors.  Recently, in human clinical trials in Europe, the technology has demonstrated success in the treatment of patients with glioblastoma.
